Why are we still here?

Dr Webberley Responds | Dr Hilary Interview (1)

In this clip, Dr Hilary opens the conversation by asking a simple but unsettling question: where are we today when it comes to gender identity, gender dysphoria, and the treatment of trans people in society?

My response reflects something I find genuinely troubling, that in 2025 we are still talking about discrimination against a minority group, still grappling with fear and misunderstanding, and still failing to provide adequate education, both medically and socially.

Trans people are not new. They are not something to be feared. They are part of our communities, and always have been. The work that needs doing now is not suppression or debate for its own sake, but education, understanding, and welcome.

This clip is part of a series of responses from a studio interview with Dr Hilary Jones. Each post focuses on one question or theme from that conversation and is numbered so it can be read as part of a wider whole.
