Terms, Privacy and Copyright

Last updated: 12 May 2026.

This page explains who operates this website, how we use and protect information, what technologies we place in your browser, the rules that apply when using the platform, and your rights in relation to your personal data.

These terms are intended to be read in plain English. By accessing or using the website, creating an account, interacting with Sammy, uploading content, or purchasing a membership, you agree to these Terms, Privacy and Copyright provisions.

These terms are governed primarily by the laws of the Cayman Islands, including the Data Protection Act (2021 Revision) (“DPA”). The Cayman Islands DPA establishes the principal legal framework governing the processing of personal data in the Cayman Islands.

1. Who we are

This website is operated by Sammy.

The website provides educational, informational, mentoring and AI-assisted content relating to gender identity, gender diversity, healthcare, wellbeing, society, legal rights, public policy and related subjects.

For data protection purposes under the Cayman Islands Data Protection Act (2021 Revision), Sammy is the “data controller” responsible for determining how and why personal data is processed.

Privacy and data protection enquiries may be sent to: dpo@mishcon.com

2. Not medical, psychological or legal advice

All content made available through the website, including conversations with Sammy, is provided for general informational, educational and community-support purposes only.

Nothing on this website constitutes:

  • medical advice;
  • diagnosis;
  • treatment;
  • prescribing guidance;
  • psychological advice;
  • psychotherapy;
  • safeguarding advice;
  • legal advice;
  • financial advice; or
  • emergency or crisis support.

Your use of the website does not create:

  • a doctor-patient relationship;
  • therapist-client relationship;
  • solicitor-client relationship;
  • fiduciary relationship; or
  • any regulated professional relationship.

Users should seek advice from appropriately qualified professionals before making healthcare, legal, safeguarding or financial decisions.

If you are experiencing a medical emergency, mental health crisis, safeguarding risk or immediate danger, contact your local emergency services or crisis support provider immediately.

Sammy AI disclaimer

Sammy is an artificial intelligence (“AI”) powered informational and support tool designed to assist users with general guidance, educational content, signposting and community-informed responses.

Sammy is an automated software system and is not a human being, clinician, therapist, psychologist, solicitor or regulated healthcare professional.

Sammy is not Dr Helen Webberley and does not speak on behalf of Dr Helen Webberley personally. Any responses, summaries, opinions, recommendations or generated outputs produced by Sammy are automatically generated by AI systems and may not reflect the personal views, judgment or professional opinions of Dr Helen Webberley or her affiliated agents, companies, employees or officers.

AI-generated responses may be inaccurate, incomplete, biased, misleading, fictional, outdated or inappropriate. All outputs must be independently verified before reliance or action.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, neither Dr Helen Webberley or her affiliated agents, companies, employees or officers accepts liability for:

  • AI-generated outputs;
  • inaccuracies or omissions;
  • reliance placed upon Sammy responses;
  • decisions made based on Sammy content;
  • interruptions, errors or failures in AI functionality.

Use of Sammy is entirely at your own risk.

3. Cookies and browser technologies

We use cookies, local storage, session storage, pixels, scripts, tags and similar technologies to:

  • operate the website;
  • authenticate users;
  • maintain account sessions;
  • improve performance;
  • measure engagement;
  • analyse service usage;
  • personalise communications;
  • support onboarding and CRM functionality;
  • measure advertising effectiveness;
  • maintain security and prevent abuse.

The Cayman Islands currently does not operate an equivalent standalone PECR regime identical to the United Kingdom’s PECR framework, but cookie and tracking activities involving personal data remain subject to the Cayman Islands Data Protection Act principles relating to fairness, transparency and lawful processing.

The technologies we may use include:

  • Google Analytics;
  • Amplitude;
  • Meta/Facebook Pixel;
  • Braze;
  • Stripe;
  • Supabase authentication storage;
  • Cloudflare security services;
  • browser localStorage and sessionStorage;
  • analytics SDKs and related technologies.

These technologies may collect:

  • IP addresses;
  • browser and device information;
  • event data;
  • page interactions;
  • referral information;
  • engagement metrics;
  • approximate geographic region;
  • advertising identifiers;
  • session and interaction metadata.

Some technologies are strictly necessary for the operation and security of the website. Other analytics, advertising and engagement technologies may be activated based on your consent preferences where applicable.

You may manage cookie settings through your browser controls or our consent tools. Blocking certain technologies may affect website functionality.

4. The data we collect, and why

The information we collect depends on how you interact with the website and services.

If you only browse the website

We generally do not intentionally collect directly identifying personal information from casual visitors.

However, limited technical information such as IP address, browser type, device information and request metadata may be processed by infrastructure and security providers including Cloudflare for:

  • hosting;
  • website delivery;
  • caching;
  • DDoS mitigation;
  • abuse prevention;
  • fraud detection;
  • security monitoring.

If you chat to Sammy without an account

If you use Sammy anonymously, we may store:

  • your messages;
  • Sammy’s responses;
  • conversation history;
  • temporary anonymous identifiers (“ghost UUIDs”);
  • technical metadata associated with the interaction.

This allows the assistant to maintain conversational continuity, apply usage limits, improve reliability, monitor abuse and maintain service quality.

If you create an account

We may collect:

  • email address;
  • encrypted password hash;
  • authentication credentials;
  • selected membership tier;
  • selected personas and preferences;
  • “about me” content;
  • timestamps and activity records.

We use this information to:

  • authenticate users;
  • operate accounts;
  • personalise services;
  • administer memberships;
  • maintain security;
  • communicate with users.

If you purchase a membership

Payments are processed directly by Stripe.

We do not receive or store full payment card details.

We may store:

  • Stripe customer IDs;
  • subscription IDs;
  • billing metadata;
  • subscription status;
  • renewal and expiry dates.

If you connect Sammy to Telegram

If you choose to connect Sammy to Telegram, we may store:

  • Telegram user IDs;
  • display names;
  • conversation history;
  • interaction metadata.

If you upload documents

Uploaded documents are stored in a private account-linked environment.

Before documents are processed by Sammy, automated systems may attempt to redact certain identifiers including:

  • names;
  • addresses;
  • NHS numbers;
  • phone numbers;
  • email addresses.

Depending on the feature, we may store:

  • original files;
  • extracted text;
  • redacted text;
  • redaction mappings;
  • summaries and outputs;
  • processing metadata.

Users should avoid uploading highly sensitive or third-party confidential data unless legally authorised to do so.

Analytics and engagement technologies

We use:

  • Google Analytics;
  • Amplitude;
  • Meta/Facebook Pixel;
  • Braze;
  • analytics SDKs;
  • cookies and local storage technologies.

These help us:

  • understand usage patterns;
  • improve functionality;
  • measure engagement;
  • personalise onboarding and communications;
  • improve reliability and product performance;
  • measure marketing effectiveness;
  • maintain security.

Sharing with third-party providers

We may share limited personal data with service providers supporting:

  • hosting and infrastructure;
  • analytics;
  • authentication;
  • payments;
  • communications;
  • CRM and engagement;
  • cloud storage;
  • AI processing;
  • fraud prevention and security.

Third-party providers may include:

Some providers may process data outside the Cayman Islands. International transfers may be protected using contractual safeguards, standard contractual clauses or equivalent protections where appropriate. The Cayman Islands DPA restricts international transfers unless adequate protection exists.

5. How we use your data

We use personal data to:

  • provide and operate the services;
  • authenticate users;
  • process memberships and payments;
  • maintain conversational context;
  • improve Sammy and the website;
  • analyse feature usage and service performance;
  • personalise communications;
  • maintain security and detect abuse;
  • investigate fraud and misuse;
  • comply with legal and regulatory obligations;
  • enforce our terms and policies.

Research, analytics and product development

We may use personal data, usage data, interaction data, uploaded content, feedback, analytics information and AI interaction history for internal research, service improvement, safety monitoring, quality assurance, statistical analysis and product development purposes.

These activities may include:

  • improving Sammy’s responses, reliability and conversational quality;
  • testing and developing new features, products and services;
  • analysing usage patterns, engagement trends and platform performance;
  • identifying bugs, failures, abuse patterns and security risks;
  • improving moderation, safeguarding and redaction systems;
  • evaluating user experience, onboarding flows and accessibility;
  • developing aggregated insights, metrics, reports and operational intelligence;
  • training internal classification, routing, safety and optimisation systems;
  • conducting internal business research, forecasting and strategic development.

Where reasonably possible, we may use anonymised, aggregated, pseudonymised or de-identified data for research and product development activities. However, users acknowledge that pseudonymised or partially redacted information may still constitute personal data under applicable data protection laws where re-identification remains possible.

Uploaded documents and conversations may be reviewed by authorised personnel, automated systems or internal tooling for purposes including:

  • quality assurance;
  • safety investigations;
  • debugging;
  • abuse prevention;
  • feature evaluation;
  • system improvement;
  • legal and regulatory compliance.

We do not permit third-party AI providers to use uploaded documents or customer content to train public foundation models where contractual restrictions prohibit such use.

Where required by applicable law, we rely on lawful processing grounds including:

  • consent;
  • performance of a contract;
  • compliance with legal obligations; and/or
  • legitimate interests in operating, securing, improving and developing our services and technologies. The Cayman Islands Data Protection Act recognises “legitimate interests” as a lawful basis for processing personal data where such interests are not overridden by the rights and freedoms of the individual.

We may also create aggregated or anonymised statistical datasets derived from platform usage. Where data has been irreversibly anonymised such that individuals are no longer identifiable, that information may no longer constitute “personal data” under the Cayman Islands Data Protection Act.

Research and product development activities are carried out subject to applicable security, confidentiality and access-control measures designed to protect personal data and reduce unnecessary privacy risks.

6. Data retention

We retain data only for as long as reasonably necessary for:

  • operational purposes;
  • legal compliance;
  • fraud prevention;
  • dispute resolution;
  • security monitoring;
  • backup and recovery;
  • research and development;
  • legitimate business administration.

Retention periods vary depending on the feature and applicable legal obligations.

7. Your rights

Subject to the Cayman Islands Data Protection Act, you may have rights to:

  • request access to personal data;
  • correct inaccurate information;
  • request erasure in certain circumstances;
  • object to certain processing;
  • restrict processing;
  • complain to the Cayman Islands Ombudsman.

Requests may be sent to: dpo@mishcon.com

The Cayman Islands Ombudsman acts as the supervisory authority responsible for enforcement of the DPA.

8. Data security

We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards including:

  • encryption;
  • access controls;
  • authentication systems;
  • audit logging;
  • security monitoring;
  • provider due diligence.

No system can ever be completely secure and use of the website remains at your own risk.

9. Children and young people

This website contains educational, informational and community-support material which may be accessed by individuals under the age of 18. Public-facing informational content may therefore be viewed by children and young people without creating an account or purchasing a membership.

However, certain services, premium features, AI interactions, memberships, document-upload functionality, community tools, payment services or account-based features may not be appropriate for all minors and may require parental, guardian or other legally valid consent depending on:

  • the age of the user;
  • the laws of the user’s jurisdiction;
  • the nature of the service being accessed; and
  • applicable safeguarding, privacy, consumer protection and healthcare-related requirements.

By creating an account, purchasing a membership, uploading documents, linking third-party services, or using restricted features, users represent and warrant that:

  • they are legally capable of entering into binding agreements in their jurisdiction; or
  • they have obtained all legally required parental, guardian or authorised consent necessary to use the service.

Parents, guardians and responsible adults are encouraged to supervise and support minors using the platform where appropriate.

We do not knowingly solicit, market paid memberships to, or intentionally collect personal data from children in violation of applicable law. Where we become aware that personal data has been collected from a child or minor unlawfully or without required consent, we may:

  • suspend or terminate the account;
  • restrict access to services;
  • delete associated data;
  • request additional verification or consent documentation.

We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to:

  • impose age restrictions on certain features;
  • require age verification;
  • require parental or guardian confirmation;
  • refuse, suspend or terminate access for any user where legal, safeguarding, compliance or operational concerns arise.

The website, Sammy AI, and associated services are not designed to provide:

  • emergency safeguarding services;
  • crisis intervention;
  • mental health treatment;
  • medical supervision;
  • diagnostic assessment; or
  • substitute parental, educational, therapeutic or clinical support for minors.

Nothing on the platform should be interpreted as encouragement for minors to make healthcare, legal, social or life decisions without appropriate support from qualified professionals and trusted adults where appropriate.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Dr Helen Webberley or her affiliated agents, companies, employees or officers and affiliated parties disclaim liability arising from:

  • unauthorised use of the platform by minors;
  • false age declarations;
  • failure of parents or guardians to supervise use;
  • reliance placed upon AI-generated outputs by minors;
  • decisions made by minors based on website content or Sammy interactions.

Users under 18 use the platform entirely at their own risk and subject to applicable law and parental or guardian responsibility where relevant.

10. Memberships, payments, renewals, cancellation and refunds

Membership fees, subscription charges, billing intervals, feature access levels and included services are displayed at the point of purchase and may be amended, updated or varied by us from time to time at our sole discretion.

By purchasing, activating or continuing a membership, you expressly acknowledge, agree and authorise that:

  • subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled before the next billing date;
  • recurring charges may be processed automatically using your selected payment method;
  • pricing may increase periodically;
  • membership fees shall increase annually by no less than 7.5% (seven and one-half percent) on a compounded basis, or by such greater amount as we may determine acting reasonably and in accordance with applicable law;
  • continued use of the membership following any renewal date constitutes acceptance of the then-current pricing.

Annual price increases may be applied automatically without separate signature, amendment or further written agreement. We may, but are not obliged to, provide advance notice of pricing changes by email, platform notification or publication on the website.

You are solely responsible for:

  • monitoring subscription pricing and renewal dates;
  • maintaining valid and up-to-date payment information;
  • ensuring sufficient available funds;
  • cancelling subscriptions before renewal if you do not accept revised pricing.

Failure to cancel prior to renewal constitutes acceptance of the renewed subscription term and applicable renewal pricing.

Unless otherwise stated:

  • subscriptions are billed in advance;
  • access to premium services continues only while payment remains current;
  • memberships are personal, revocable, non-transferable and non-exclusive;
  • we may modify, suspend, replace or discontinue features, tools, benefits or membership structures at any time.

Subscriptions may usually be cancelled through the account billing controls or payment management portal. Cancellation prevents future renewals only and does not ordinarily entitle you to a refund for the current billing period already paid.

Except where expressly required by mandatory applicable law, all payments are:

  • non-refundable;
  • final;
  • non-transferable;
  • non-creditable;
  • non-exchangeable.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, refunds will not ordinarily be provided for:

  • partial billing periods;
  • unused subscriptions;
  • dissatisfaction with AI-generated responses or platform outputs;
  • changes in personal circumstances;
  • failure to use the service;
  • mistaken purchases;
  • incompatibility with third-party services;
  • feature modifications or platform evolution;
  • technical interruptions outside our reasonable control;
  • account suspension or termination resulting from breach of these terms.

Any discretionary refund, goodwill credit, waiver or billing adjustment:

  • is provided entirely at our discretion;
  • does not create any precedent, expectation or ongoing entitlement;
  • shall not constitute a waiver of any contractual rights.

We reserve the right, at any time and without liability to the fullest extent permitted by law, to:

  • change pricing;
  • alter membership structures or benefits;
  • impose usage limits;
  • suspend or terminate subscriptions;
  • refuse transactions;
  • deny renewals;
  • restrict access to features or services.

Where legally permitted, chargebacks, payment reversals, fraudulent disputes or abuse of refund mechanisms may result in:

  • immediate suspension or termination of the account;
  • revocation of access;
  • debt recovery action;
  • reporting to payment processors, fraud prevention databases or relevant authorities.

The website, memberships, Sammy AI and all related services are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis without guarantees of uninterrupted availability, continuous functionality, future feature availability or specific outcomes.

Nothing in these terms excludes any consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded under applicable law.

11. Acceptable use

  • use the website unlawfully;
  • interfere with operation or security;
  • attempt unauthorised access;
  • upload malicious code;
  • misuse Sammy;
  • upload unlawful, abusive or harmful content;
  • scrape or harvest data;
  • use the website to train external AI systems without permission.

We may suspend or terminate access where these terms are breached.
