Dr Helen Webberley on Triggernometry: the trans debate, with Konstantin Kisin, Triggernometry
If someone is trans, the right response is to explore whether that feeling can be changed or resolved. Therapy, time, or the right approach might help a person become comfortable with the gender they were assigned at birth, and that would be a better outcome than transition.
What I was pointing to there is something we have already lived through as a society, and learned from at enormous cost. We tried to cure gay people of being gay. We know how that ended: not with people becoming straight, but with people becoming broken. Attempting to change a person's core identity is not a therapeutic approach, it is harm with a clinical name on it. The same logic applied to trans identity produces the same result. You do not resolve gender dysphoria by persuading someone out of who they are; you resolve it by helping them live as who they are.
