Dr Helen Webberley on Triggernometry: the trans debate, with Konstantin Kisin, Triggernometry
Gender affirming care is a political or ideological intervention, something done to people for reasons that have nothing to do with how they actually feel in their own skin. The intimate, physical, deeply personal dimension of it rarely gets talked about, so most people simply don't know it's there.
What I was trying to say there is that gender affirming care isn't abstract. It changes how someone lives inside their own body, and that includes their intimate life. The research bears this out: trans people who have gone through gender affirming care report significantly better sexual wellbeing than those who haven't, or than they themselves did before. That isn't a side effect or a bonus. It is the whole point. When your body matches who you are, everything that happens in that body becomes more yours. That is what care is for.
