Dr Helen Webberley on Triggernometry: the trans debate, with Konstantin Kisin, Triggernometry
You can have a strong opinion about trans children without ever having met one. The debate happens at a distance, in studios and comment sections, and that distance feels like objectivity.
What I was trying to say there is that proximity changes everything. I have sat with many, many transgender children and their families, and what you learn in those conversations, about how a family listens to their child, how they make sense of what they are seeing, how they hold their child's journey with such care, cannot be replicated by reading about it or arguing about it on television. That does not make my view more important than anyone else's. It makes it more informed. There is a difference, and it matters.
